For the third time in a row, Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences has been ranked the best university of applied sciences in Finland by graduating students. In the latest results from 2022, as in the previous two years, SeAMK is ranked first by both bachelor and master graduates.
The position is based on a national survey of universities of applied sciences with all graduating students as respondents. The ranking of HEIs was calculated based on the averages of all around 100 questions in the survey.
SeAMK ranked top in almost all twelve question groups of the survey. The top position was achieved in the following areas: content of studies, learning environments, study support services, working life contacts and study satisfaction. SeAMK’s ratings were the second highest in the areas of internationality, career counselling, internship and the thesis process.
Business Bachelor among the top-rated degree programs
In the national comparison, SeAMK's degree programmes were also successful. Among the Bachelor degree programs, the degree programs of Business Administration (business, library and information services), Hospitality Management, Construction Engineering, Food Processing and Biotechnology and Gerontology are ranked number one.
“I think there is a genuine student orientation behind a good result. It is important for us that our solutions in both teaching and support services are effective from the students' point of view. The long-term development of education is reflected in the content of education in both bachelors’ and masters’ degrees,” says Päivi Rinne, Faculty Dean.
Community, Quality of Education and Working Life Contacts at an Excellent level
The student feedback included ratings among the top two in several individual questions. SeAMK received strategically important results in e.g. feeling of community, connections with working life and the international dimension of studies.
For SeAMK community, a great source of joy has been the question on student union in support for many years. In this, the Student Union of SeAMK SAMO has held the top position for years.
“We are very pleased that we have once again met the needs of the student community and we can be truly satisfied and happy. The student is number one for us, now and in the future, and once again this result tells us that we have done things right and from the right perspective,” says Jani Erkkonen, Executive Director of the Student Union SAMO.
Information about the AVOP survey
In the graduation feedback survey, the student evaluates and gives feedback on the completed education. The results of the survey are used both locally in the development of the university's own activities and nationally in the steering and funding of education. The survey is completed nationally by nearly all degree students graduating from universities of applied sciences. The data is available online at /en-gb/polytechnic/Pages/Opiskelijapalaute.aspx
